BUILDING FUND COMMITTEE

BUILDING THE FUTURE ... TODAY
PRAYER FOR OUR BUILDING FUND
Heavenly Father, open our minds and hearts to a greater awareness and a deeper appreciation of your countless blessings. Give us the heart like Your Son and transform us through Your Spirit,
to nurture a way of life marked by faith-filled worship, fellowship and service to You and to one another.
Teach us to be faithful servants of Your gifts, knowing that we are all laborers in Your vineyard,
working to build the Kingdom on earth.
With the intercession of our Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph,
may we return ten-fold the gifts entrusted to us.
Bless our efforts with a deeper devotion to prayer, a growing commitment for service,
and an increasing level of generosity as we focus to build the future today.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
BUILDING FUND COMMITTEE PURPOSE STATEMENT
To create opportunities for parishioners to support our building fund programs
to reduce the Parish building fund debt.

WHAT IS THE BUILDING FUND?
The Building Fund was created to pay down Ascension’s debt arising from the building renovation project, the purchase of the new Rectory, and the loan to purchase the former Lutheran share of the building. The Building Fund is separate from contributions received to cover regular Parish operating expenses.

The Parish’s total debt is approximately $12.5 Million. Recurring donations, such as those made using the Pre-Authorized Donor (PAD) program, are put towards the Parish’s monthly mortgage payments. Larger lump-sum donations, such as Donor Wall block purchases, are generally used to directly pay down the principal. By paying down the principal directly we can shorten our payout timeframe and reduce the amount of interest we need to pay on our mortgage.

 DONATING TO THE BUILDING FUND
Stand-alone donations to the Building Fund can be made by cash, cheque, credit card, or e-transfer. See our homepage for e-transfer donation information. Recurring donations can be made using the Pre-Authorized Donor (PAD) program which allows Parishioners to set up recurring electronic contributions. See the Donations section of our website for details.
You can also contribute to the Building Fund by taking part in any of the Building Fund fundraising initiatives.

FROM OUR ONLINE AUCTION

Ascension Catholic Parish Online Auction April 29 – May 14, 2022

Our on-line auction raised $19,845.
We are so pleased with the results of the auction and truly appreciate your support.  All the funds raised will be directed to our Building Renovation Fund.

Thank you to everyone who donated an item or bid in the auction, we could not have done this without you!

DONOR WALL
The Donor Wall was constructed in the Fall of 2019 following the completion of our building renovation. The Donor Wall is our largest fundraising initiative, and it will be a permanent monument in the building’s Narthex. The Donor Wall consists of 506 blocks which range from $2,500 to $100,000, depending on their size. Our goal is to raise $5,030,000. When completed, the Donor Wall will be a beautiful golden cross on a silver background, all made of various sized blocks.

The Donor Wall is our main Building Fund initiative.  To help encourage additional sales, we are introducing a new payment plan option, which allows for payments to be made over a 10-month period, for a selection of plaque sizes.  The details of the new option are available in the Donor Wall Plaque Payment Plan Agreement below.

We are most grateful to all those who have generously contributed to this lasting and permanent display erected in our newly renovated building.

Store Card Program - On going
Launched June 3/4, 2017

We started  a new joint initiative with the Knights of Columbus Council of our Parish.
The Building Fund Committee encourages our parishioners to participate in the Knight of Columbus Store Cards Program. By adjusting our spending habits (groceries, gasoline, restaurants & entertainment) and using store cards, we can all make a valuable contribution to our Parish. A percentage of the revenue from the Store Cards Program sales will be committed toward paying down the mortgage of our Church building. See the short slideshow here to get an idea.
