The Sacrament Preparation Program in the Diocese of Calgary is changing! His Excellency, Most Reverend William T. McGrattan, Bishop of Calgary, is bringing the parishes of the Diocese together to offer a Sacrament Preparation Program that is consistent in form and content.
All children receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion MUST FIRST receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Therefore, preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is now combined in the same school year, beginning in September.
Children who are going to Grade 2 in the 2018-2019 school year will receive combined preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion starting in September.
Children in Grade 3 and up who already received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion but have not received First Reconciliation will only need to take the first half of the combined preparation. This first half of the preparation is for Sacrament of First Reconciliation only.
All preparation sessions will be held at Ascension Catholic Parish. If you have any questions please contact Monica Purnama at firstname.lastname@example.org
WORSHIP AND ADORATION
FOR YOUTH & YOUNG ADULTS
Youth and Young Adults at Ascension Parish are invited to an evening of rediscovering Jesus on Friday, July 6th at 7:00 pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity to encounter the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, with free food and fellowship to follow. Please extend this invitation to family and friends, especially those who haven't been to Church in a while. For more information, visit Ascension's Facebook page at facebook.com/ascensionparishcalgary.
This Event ended on June 30th, 2018. We have a great number of donors that purchased the "Symbolic Brick". See the name plates on the wall. Thank you.
The weekend of June 3/4, 2017, the Capital Campaign team started promoting a new joint initiative with the Knights of Columbus Council of our Parish.
The Capital Campaign team encourages Ascension parishioners to participate in the Knights of Columbus Store Card Program. By adjusting our spending habits (groceries, gasoline, restaurants and entertainment) and using store cards, we can all make a valuable contribution to our Parish.
A percentage of the revenue from the Store Card Program sales will be committed toward the Capital Campaign for the renovation of our church building.
Our long awaited dream is coming true!
We have been waiting for this for so long, and we are very happy to announce that we have our Building Permit in our hands as of Friday, March 17th.
The next step is:
On October 29 and 30, 2016, the Ascension Renovation Committee (ARC) announced 3 exciting updates regarding the upcoming renovation:
1) The Development Permit with the City of Calgary has been approved. Although there are a few conditions tied to that Development Permit, ARC will continue to work with Ascension’s team of architects and engineers to address these conditions.
2) The team of architects and engineers have already started working on the detailed drawings required for the Building Permit application with the City of Calgary. It is anticipated that the application will be submitted before the end of the year.
3) The Diocese has approved the terms of Ascension’s loan with respect to the renovation.
ARC would like to thank the parishioners of Ascension for your help in making this renovation a reality! We appreciate your ongoing efforts to support this renovation through your prayers, your weekly giving, Capital Campaign pledges, and supporting our community event fundraisers.
We will provide more details and next steps once we our Building Permit has been approved.
