Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them;

​​In the Diocese of Calgary, children must receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Therefore, preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is combined in the same school year, with First Reconciliation in the fall and First Holy Communion in the spring. 

Children in grade 2 and up who have been baptized or have made the Profession of Faith in the Catholic Church can register for both First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Children who have received Reconciliation can register for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion only.

Children who have received First Holy Communion can register for ​the Sacrament of Reconciliation only.
